Romain Muhammad is a leadership coach, keynote speaker, author, consultant and educator. His work sits at the intersection of history, sociology, and the psychology of human behaviour, applied to identity, belonging, culture, race and politics.

He spent years working across the corporate space with organisations on people, culture and behaviour, before founding Room to Lead™, a leadership, learning and development, and organisational culture consultancy built on the belief that lasting change starts with understanding human behaviour, not managing it.

His first book, What Are You So Afraid Of?, explored fear, self-doubt, and what it actually takes to act despite them. Much of his work since has moved further into society and culture, identity, belonging, and the systems that shape how people are allowed to see themselves. He's especially drawn to the questions underneath the headlines: what it means to belong somewhere, what gets inherited across generations, and how race, class and politics quietly decide who gets to feel at home.

Romain grew up in a Caribbean heritage family an underprivileged part of North London, an experience that runs directly through his current work and writing. He has coached thousands of people across industries and continents over fifteen years, and his insights on race, identity and social systems have shaped conversations across national media, through historical and social commentary storytelling.

He is a postgraduate researcher at Birkbeck, University of London, and a Research Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. He is exciting to partner with Sharmaine & ICA to write his next book.
