Congratulations - once again - to Gráinne O’Brien whose debut novel SOLO has been selected by the 2026 USBBY Outstanding International Book Awards committee.

Winner of the 2025 An Post Irish Book Awards’ International Education Services Teen & YA Book of the Year, SOLO is a lyrical YA verse novel about a teenager’s journey to heal from heartbreak, rediscover her inner strength, and find harmony again – perfect for readers who love emotional, empowering coming-of-age stories.

The United States Board on Books for Young People (USBBY) is a nonprofit organization devoted to building bridges of international understanding through children’s and young adult books.
