Sallyanne Sweeney secures two-book deal for Gráinne O’Brien with Little Island Books

 

As seen in the Bookseller, Irish Book Award-winner Gráinne O’Brien has signed a two-book deal with Little Island.

World all-language rights to GLASS and a second novel sold by Sallyanne Sweeney to Matthew Parkinson-Bennett at Little Island, GLASS is set to publish spring 2027.

Cáit loves her older brother Fionn, a gifted glassblower, but his addiction has Left her feeling invisible within her family. On the eve of her final Leaving Cert exam, her parents ask her to cancel her summer travel plans when Fionn enters rehab again. Incad of family therapy, Cait enrols in a summer poetry course, using verse to confront her resentment, grief, and a summer she feels has been taken from her. Told in a blend of prose and poetry, GLASS explores family, friendship, and life as a glass child.

Her debut novel, SOLO, won the Teen & YA Book of the Year at the 2025 An Post Irish Book Awards. It has also been nominated for the Carnegie Medal 2026, and shortlisted for the overall Irish Book of the Year Award.
